Design and Implementation of a Compact Super-Wideband Printed Antipodal Antenna Using Fractal Elements
author
Abstract:
A compact printed fractal antipodal bow-tie antenna is designed and implemented to simultaneously cover the operations in the C, X, and Ku-bands. It is demonstrated that by addition of small fractal elements at the sides of hexagonal arms of the bow-tie, a wide operating frequency range of 3.3 to 19.1 GHz can be covered while antenna size is only 30×34×1.2 mm3. In order to match the antenna to the 50Ω SMA connector, a multi-section microstrip line of different widths is designed. The simulation results obtained from HFSS simulator package are verified by experimental measurements. Measured data are in good agreement with the simulated results. The frequency- and time-domain characteristics of the antenna including impedance matching, far-field patterns, radiation efficiency, gain, and fidelity factor are presented and discussed. The proposed antenna features 141% impedance bandwidth (defined by -10-dB reflection coefficient), small size, and desirable radiation patterns that make it excellent candidate for integration in broadband array systems.

In this article, a simple and compact dual bandnotched (DBN) super wideband (SWB) printed monopole antenna (PMA) has been proposed. The proposed antenna composed of a circular PMA, which is connected through a 50-Ω triangular tapered microstrip fed line (TTMFL) and a round-cornered finite ground plane (RCFGP). It exhibits a very wide frequency band from 1.6–25 GHz (ratio bandwidth of 15.63:1) w...
full textA Compact Printed Dipole Antenna for Wideband Wireless Applications
A compact printed dipole antenna with wide impedance bandwidth is proposed in this paper. This antenna consists of a pair of radiation metal arms and a microstrip-to-slotline transition structure. At the end of the feeding slotted line, a beveled slot with stepped connection structure is designed to realize an offset feeding structure for feeding the dipole antenna. By using the beveled offset ...

full textDesign of Wideband Printed Monopole Antenna Using WIPL-D
For the purpose of wideband operations, a printed monopole antenna fed by a microstrip line is investigated. A single element is studied before using it to form a linear array or two-dimensional antenna array system. The antenna element has a single T-shaped radiator fed by a microstrip line. This design is found to be useful for the entire C-band frequency range centered at 6 GHz. The computed...
